Lake Norman is located in the northern part of Mecklenburg County, just 18 miles northwest of Charlotte. Lake Norman is one of the fastest growing areas of Charlotte. Lake Norman stretches 34 miles and is covering 32,410 acres with a 571 mile of shoreline. Lake Norman is the state's largest manmade lake impounded in the early 1960's by Duke Power to generate hydroelectric power.
Lake Norman is bordered by four counties: Mecklenburg, Catawba, Lincoln, and Iredell.
